SADDLE UP FOR AN ADVENTURE
Join us and experience the Newton Hills State Park with 6 miles of marked horse trails for everyone to enjoy the scenic view, from beginners to professionals. Enjoy your ride as you stroll through gullies and traverse hills filled with hardwood forests.
Help support Hope Haven and Hope Haven International Ministries as we ride to honor the life of Rick Harmelink from Fairview, SD, who passed away in 2018. The Rick Harmelink Trail Ride, previously known as Big Sioux Bluffs Trail Ride, began on Rick and Gail’s property. This year, we have changed its route to Newton Hills State Park in Canton, SD. Over the ten years, Rick helped us make this event a success and raised over $70,000 for Hope Haven. We will be forever grateful!
SCHEDULE
8:30 am – Registration (At either the Horse Camp or Scout Camp)
10 am – Trail Ride Begins (Can start on your free time)
12:30 pm – Chow Time (Horse Camp Shelter House)
Serving grilled pork loins, provided by the Iowa Pork Producers, along with chips, beans, coleslaw, 1919 Root Beer, and water.
There will be a free will offering when you register or during lunch in the horse camp shelter area. After lunch, you are free to ride again or pack up to go home.
PARKING
You can park and saddle your horses at either the horse camp or the new addition of the scout camp, north of the main park entrance. There is now a small trail from the scout camp to the horse camp that will enable you to host more horses and trailers.
PARK STICKER PASS
We have free park passes if you do not have an annual pass.
