Volunteers play an essential role in providing mobility and opportunity to people around the world. Whether you are assembling pediatric wheelchairs, helping refurbish donated equipment, supporting a wheelchair collection, or serving on a distribution trip, there is a meaningful way to get involved.

No specialized experience is required for many volunteer opportunities. Hope Haven International Ministries provides the training and guidance needed to help individuals, families, churches, businesses, and community groups serve with confidence.

Volunteers at Hope Haven workshops help prepare mobility equipment for people around the world. Opportunities may include assembling pediatric wheelchairs, refurbishing donated manual wheelchairs, making or preparing parts, sewing, packaging chairs, and getting equipment ready for shipment.

GROUP VOLUNTEERING

Businesses, Rotary clubs, churches, schools, youth groups, service organizations, and other community groups can volunteer together to help prepare mobility equipment for people around the world. Depending on the location and current needs, groups may assist with assembling pediatric wheelchairs, refurbishing donated equipment, sorting and preparing parts, loading shipments, or supporting other workshop projects.

No specialized experience is required for most group opportunities. Hope Haven staff provide the instruction and guidance needed so your group can serve confidently and make a meaningful contribution.

Wheelchair Distribution Trips

Distribution trips bring together volunteers with many different backgrounds, and no medical experience is required to participate. Every team member plays an important role, whether assisting with registration, equipment preparation, photography, hospitality, organization, or supporting recipients and their families.

Volunteers with experience in healthcare, therapy, wheelchair seating, mechanics, or translation are especially helpful in supporting individualized fittings, equipment adjustments, repairs, and more complex mobility needs, but this experience is not required.

Volunteers pay their own expenses or raise support from home churches, family, and friends. Arrangements are coordinated by Hope Haven International staff.

Volunteers at Hope Haven workshops help prepare mobility equipment for people around the world. Opportunities may include assembling pediatric wheelchairs, refurbishing donated manual wheelchairs, making or preparing parts, sewing, packaging chairs, and getting equipment ready for shipment.

Wheelchair Collection

Attics and basements hold hidden treasures — wheelchairs and other medical equipment that are desperately needed around the world! You can do a one-time collection drive in your area or volunteer to be a drop-off location for others to bring their wheelchairs throughout the year. You can be located anywhere in the country to participate. Truck drivers are also needed to help transport the wheelchairs across the continent back to NW Iowa.

Truck Drivers
