“God is our shelter and our strength. When troubles seem near God is nearer and He’s ready to help. So why run and hide?”

This verse from Psalm 46 was the theme verse at the November spiritual retreats where over 100  people in three locations joined Religious Services Associate Beth Odor and Religious Services Coordinator Dan DeVries. In four learning stations on the different emotions identified in the story of Lazarus and Jesus (grief stress worry and fear) participants identified what the Bible said about these emotions and learned ways to cope with them when they were experienced. As an example the station acknowledging grief allowed members to name the person or animal they were grieving and place their memory on a pieced-together heart.  It represented a broken heart that is not the same after a loss of a loved pet family member or friend. Friends sharing together is always positive and much love and laughter resulted from our times together. We topped it off with pizza and ice cream!
