Vocational Evaluation
Hope Haven Vocational Evaluation Services are utilized to assess a person's vocational interest, aptitudes, and abilities to assist individuals who desire employment. Community and Facility-Based Worksite Assessment, Comprehensive Vocational Evaluations, and Career Exploration/Job Shadowing are offered to assist the individual in developing their occupational goal in the community of choice and identifying supports that will assist that person in being successful in employment.
Hope Haven's Evaluation and Placement Services are:
Accessible: Services are provided in the individual's community and scheduled in time frames that fit the individual's needs.
Person-Centered: Each person's unique work, living, and academic experiences are considered and services center on the individual's personal preferences and needs. The individual directs the plan for services. A person-centered intake is the first step in job placement/vocational evaluation services. This meeting is focuses on getting to know the person's background, desires, preferences, and aspirations for employment. Those involved in the intake include the referral source, the individual served, evaluation staff, and other significant persons the individual chooses to have involved, such as family or members of the community.
Vocational Evaluation Hope Haven Vocational Evaluation Services are directed by an Individual Evaluation Plan (IEP), which includes a program plan for the service. Specific referral questions are developed to be answered using a variety of tools. The IEP specifies strategies and the time frame for completion of the vocational evaluation.
The following Vocational Evaluation Services are offered throughout the region, in the location desired by the person served.
1. Community Worksite Assessment: A job tryout in a community job is arranged. Wages can be paid. This evaluation is used to answer specific questions about ability or a specific job. 2. Facility-Based Assessment: An evaluation can also be arranged in the sheltered workshop setting to determine general work issues and behaviors for a person. 3. Job Shadowing/Career Exploration: Opportunity to explore jobs is provided by visiting employers, seeing what employees do in a job, and learn more about a job. 4. Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation: Testing is completed based on each individual's needs and desire, and considers questions to be answered during the evaluation.
