Vocational & Employment Services
|
| Vocational & Employment Services have been a major focus of Hope Haven for many years. Individuals who receive these services develop a sense of value and worth because they are able to work for a living, just as anyone else does.
|
| Service Settings:
Community Based: Community Based Employment Services are located in businesses and industries throughout northwest Iowa. Customized work arrangements have been developed cooperatively with employers, and give persons served the opportunity to develop their work skills alongside other workers. For many individuals served, Community Based Employment provides the opportunity to become a part of their own communities. |
|
Facility Based: Facility Based Employment Services are available through Parkview Industries' two workshop locations in Rock Valley, IA and Osceola Employment Services in Sibley, IA. Each setting offers employment training and support through a variety of work options. Alternative support services are available as directed by Individual Service Plans. |

| Program/Funding Options:
Supported Employment offers vocational training and employment support services to persons at community job sites. Services include: job development, placement, job coaching, and follow-along services. Support includes job training, social integration and facilitation of good co-worker relationships, training to maximize independence with transportation, behavior management, co-worker and supervisor training in providing natural supports, and arranging for extended support within the job site to allow for fade-away and follow-along services. The program focus is on integration both on and off the job.
Work Activity is designed for persons who desire employment, but require intensive support and training services. Using real and simulated work, which promotes development of basic work skills and behaviors, participants learn to resolve poor work habits, low productivity, and personal problems that limit employment opportunities. Most participants have never worked or have a history of losing jobs because of performance problems.
The client and their Support Team members develop individualized training and support programs, which are tailored to assist each person to achieve their highest employment potential.
Prevocational Services are services that are aimed at preparing a person eligible for the HCBS-MR Waiver for paid or unpaid employment. The skills taught and supports provided are not job task oriented.
Prevocational services are intended to have a more generalized result as opposed to vocational training for a specific job or supported employment. Services are driven by the person's service plan in accordance with Case Management's Individual Comprehensive Plan. Services include activities that are not primarily directed at teaching specific job skills but more generalized habilitative goals and are reflected in a habilitative plan that focuses on general habilitative rather than specific employment objectives. Persons served may perform work tasks that are either for pay or simulated (not paid). |
