What is Peer Support?

Hope Haven's Peer Support Program is designed to:
  • Pair up a trained person who has experienced mental health issues with another person who is seeking support.

  • Deliver this help in the community through individual contacts and phone calls.

  • Empower and link people with supports that are necessary to increase success and satisfaction in the role and environment of their choice.


Who will you see?

A Peer Support Specialist who:
  • Has experienced mental health issues themselves;

  • Completed a ten hour Peer Support Training;

  • Is directly supervised by Mental Health Professionals.


Are You Eligible?

You may be if you answer yes to the following:
  • Adult ages 18-65;

  • Have a psychiatric diagnosis from a psychiatrist;

  • Are under the care of a board eligible psychiatrist;

  • Stable in your mental illness;

  • Risk to self and others is low;

  • Accepting of interventions;

  • Living in a community based setting;

  • Title XIX eligible or have another funding source.


Where are Services Located?

Services are provided in:
  • Rock Valley;

  • Sioux Center;

  • Orange City;

  • Hawarden;

  • Rock Rapids;

  • Other communities as arranged.
