Family Centered Services

The greatest need for children is to be loved and cared for by their parents.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case.  While in the past, children were routinely removed from parental care if problems arose, today other options are explored before such measures are taken.

Family Centered Services (FCS) is based on the belief that strengthening the family of origin is a more effective model.  Since children love their parents and yearn to be with them, even when confronting abuse, FCS helps families recognize their strengths and enhance their abilities to deal effectively with challenging life situations.

Through therapy and counseling, families discover their strengths and are encouraged to grow and develop further; they discover hope where there was once hopelessness.  The program focus is the family as a whole, rather than one individual.  Skill development is an integral part of the FCS service package, and includes parenting skills, financial management, housekeeping and shopping skills, and behavior and anger management.

Family Centered Services receives funding and referrals through the Department of Human Services (DHS).
