Supplementary Services

There are many supplements to the training and support programs at Hope Haven.  These services are provided by Hope Haven or in partnership with other service providers.  They support business, industry, organizations, and churches as they include persons with disabilities into the "culture" or their organizations.

Supplementary Opportunities for Persons Served

  • Education:  Adult Basic Education (ABE), Literacy Development, and Health and Safety may be arranged through community providers.

  • Recreation:  Intramurals, Special Olympics, and Gospel Choir are available.

  • Health Services:  Medication monitoring, health consultation, coordination with medical providers, and first aid are available through Hope Haven or community providers depending upon the program in which the person is enrolled.

  • Transportation:  Transportation is available to and from work in most work programs.  Transportation for social activities and medical appointments may be arranged; however, the client may need to pay for the cost, depending upon the type of program in which the person is enrolled.

  • Religious Services:  Includes one-on-one Chaplaincy, group Bible studies and assistance in attending church of choice.  Spiritual retreats, for persons served, are offered on occasion.

  • School to Work Transition:  Facilitates the transition of persons enrolled in school/education programs into the world of work and adult responsibilities.

  • Respite Care:  Assistance to families through the provision of facility based respite care at the Residential Training Center (RTC) or community based respite care.
  • Adult Support Program:  Professional staff is available on an hourly basis to assist persons to maintain and/or develop their community living /work arrangement.

  • Psychiatric Consultation:  The consulting psychiatrist is available to provide medication monitoring, behavior management and program planning consultations several times each month.



Services to the Community

  • Employment Services and Consultation:  Assistance is provided to employers and other organizations who wish to employ persons with disabilities in their company or industrial setting.

  • Religious Services and Consultation:  Assistance is provided to churches, agencies and other religious organizations who wish to include people with disabilities in the religious activities of the community.  In addition, spiritual retreats for persons with disabilities can be arranged and conducted.

  • Program Development and Consultation:  Assistance is provided to persons and organizations who wish to establish or expand programs that enable people with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities to live and work in the community.

  • Public Education and Awareness:  Presentations and tours are provided for persons and organizations who wish to learn more about Hope Haven.  Specific information is available in the areas of social and community integration.

  • ADA Standards:  Assistance is provided to churches, businesses, and communities who desire to be in compliance with the rules and guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Volunteer Services:  Opportunities are given to those who wish to give of their time and talents to serve in such areas as: mailings, providing transportation for those in need, collecting and refurbishing wheelchairs, participating in "big friend" programs, leading Bible study groups, and other activities.
