Family Receiving Services and Support

The environment in which children and adolescents live and learn provides a framework for how they respond to the challenges of living, both now and in their adult years. Hope Haven’s programs targeting children and families offer a broad range of services that address the needs of children living at home in “at risk” situations as well as children in our residential programs.

Child Welfare Safety and Permanency Services
This service is provided to families who have a founded child abuse investigation. Cases are referred by Iowa DHS. A Care Coordinator works with the family members to establish a plan together as to how to assure the safety of the children in the home. The goal is to resolve the situation with the family within 12-18 months.  The service is currently a sub-contract with the Boys & Girls Home and Family Services in Sioux City. Hope Haven covers Sioux, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Clay, and Dickinson Counties.

Family Team Meeting Services
This service helps families discover whom their support system is and how to tap into this support system. Concerns and strengths are discussed and a plan is made to help empower the family. All family members are held accountable. The objective is to keep the family together if safety is assured. Service is offered in NW Iowa.

Heartland Center for Restorative Justice
This service works with victims of property and theft crimes to meet with the offenders, facilitated by trained volunteer mediators.  This allows each person to discuss the crime and, if possible, develop a restitution plan.  Often this meeting allows for forgiveness and healing to begin for both the victim and the offender.

Children’s Mental Health
This service works with children diagnosed with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED) and their families. This includes therapy, community support services, behavioral skill training, and respite services. Children must be Title XIX and enrolled in this service through a DHS Targeted Case Manager.

Remedial Services
This service is for children and adults in need of Skill Development services to work on the change of behavior for the person. It is a short term (12 month) program. Person must be Title XIX.

Juvenile Court Services
This service is for children not eligible for the Title XIX services. Services include: counseling, skill development, psycho-social evaluations, and transportation. Children must be recommended by a Juvenile Court Officer and approved by the Sioux City Judicial District Office for these services.
